philips TV randomly flashing then OK

I have a phillips tv 32" that goes slightly funny as if it is getting less power or something , the whole picture can still be seen but it flickers and the colour goes a bit funny, when i swicth it off for a second at the mains with the tv on it gets better for a while but then bad again ,, i thought i might get some pointers here so i can take it to get fixed at tv repair shop ,, and if there is something major wrong then i wont bother taking it as it weigh,s a ton ,,

no as it is an old set well 5yrs at least and dont have the no..

That doesn't matter. If it's out of warranty they'll give you a numbjer of an approved repairer.

i phoned philips technical and they didnt have a clue about what was wrong ,it was a woman i spoke to and all she said was that this problem was not something she could trouble shoot, i waited 17 mins on the phone for that outcome , dont think i,ll be phoning them again,

i have used a local firm before for this TV but, i havent got the strength anymore (weighs a ton )to take it there to get it diagnosed as a right off , i thought if the say it,s this (and that) wrong with it, it would be worth taking to the repairer,
i am in Burnley, Lancs. by the way,
i know what your thinking but it,s not that bad here
