Picture breaking up on new T.V

Bought a new T.V a few months ago, and for the last week the picture
has been breaking up. A few times a message appears.

The program cannot be viewed via HDMI conection because your T.V
does not support digital content protection (HDCP). Disconnect
the HDMI cable and connect composite video connector to watch
the programme in standard resolution.

Can Anyone explain in english please.

The industry is paranoid about people copying stuff they have no right to. The big issue is that a digital copy is a perfect replica of the original. This is why HDCP was invented. It's there to make it impossible to play anything unless the source to the display chain are secure.

HDCP errors occur most often because some bit of new kit is being used with an old telly that is lo longer getting manufacturer updates to its library of acceptable devices. This isn't the situation in your case.

Less common, but still possible, is the old source device working with a new display. But again, your TV has been working fine. If there was this kind of HDCP error then I would expect you to have seen it straight away.

The most likely remaining cause then is that the HDMI cable is a bit marginal (poor shielding/lossy/not great quality) and there's a bit of oxidation built up on the HDMI sockets and plug ends which is now starting to interfere with the signal. Solution: remake the connection a few times to rub away the the corrosion. That, or try a better quality HDMI cable.

Another possibility is that the HDMI socket on one of the bits of gear is damaged or the cable has been crushed somehow.

These aren't the only solutions, but without knowing a bit more about the install or if there's some other factors then these are reasonable suggestions for a first go at trouble-shooting.
