A level line needs to be drawn round the room where the rail is going, in PENCIL.
Before fitting the picture rail, apply as many coats of paint as you need to, except the final coat.
Fill and undercoat nail holes as necessary.
Get someone with a steady hand to apply topcoat of paint.
