pilot light not staying on

We have an old thorn Olympic gas boiler, and the pilot light will light with the grey button pressed, but once released, pilot light goes out  ~ Replaced the thermocouple, still no joy  ~ have recently turned both the water and electric supply off for other work, doubt if this has any effect, but that is why I am asking the experts ;) ~ any ideas?

Hi, I'm a heating Engineer near Leeds, have a customer in Harrogate with same prob. I think you'll find you require a new gas valve, they are still available but the part No. has been superceded. If you try any branch of Parts Centre (part of the wolsley group) I'm sure they will help. If they ask for the G.C. No of the boiler, it is 41-789-42. Hope that helps, good luck, Chris.[/quote]
