I have a Baxi Bermuda back boiler (PW2) which is quite old but works well (or has until recently). The pilot light has gone out and i can't get it to relight.

Also I have recently had it serviced and spoke about a new combi boiler with the heating engineer - do you think he could have done something to the boiler to sway me towards the new one? - just a thought.

Any and all help gretaly appreciated.

Thanks

yes he must have put a fault on just so you buy a boiler. in the real world it is more likley the t/couple has failed ,get him back and ask him to have a look

I'm having exactly the same problem, hubby could probably sort it, could someone tell me what a t/couple is and if it's difficult to fix?

Thank you for your time. :D

A BBU means that to do any work on the boiler the fire has to be removed first and that means disconnecting its gas supply.

No responsible person would advise anyone do do that unless they were very experienced with gas and that would usually mean CORGI registered.

Depends on how long ago your 'recent' service was. If I had serviced this within the past 30 days and was stupid enough not to inspect the t/couple properly for signs of wear etc. I would come back labour free and just charge for the part ;)

Do you mean the flame lights but will not stay on when you release the gas valve knob?

Or do you mean it will not ignite at all when you repeatedly press the igniter button?

Thermocouple, but as Tony said previously the fire front has to be removed and gas joints disturbed!
