Hi,

I have no hot water or cantral heating. The pilot light is out and I cannot get it to relight. Following the manual I checked and cleaned the ignition electrode. It is not making the usual click-click-clicking as it lights. It will spark against the case but I can't see if it's sparking in place. I tried using a cigarette lighter to light the pilot during the ignition sequence but this didn't work.

Before I go further and replace the electrode is there anything else I should check that might cause it not to light?

Have you checked the water pressure in system? I once had the same problem and it turned out that the system needed topping up....probably not the answer but worth mentioning anyway
