In later editions Pinocchio behaves better and is rewarded with being turned into a real boy.

Which I suppose is a good example of how fairy tales are constantly updated to meet the reality and social norms of the modern world.

you’re arguing that a fantasy character should look like (presumably) the Walt Disney character?
He cleaned up the little sod’s behaviour and sexed up the fairy
the story was written in the 1880’s.
The story’s original fairy was called…..the Blue Fairy

I'm not arguing.
This is Disney.
Remember those animated stories we grew up with?
Besides, in the original book, written in Italian, the fairy is called "La fata dai capelli turchini".
This is translated as "the fairy with turquoise hair".
Of course some lazy translators thought best to call her the "blue fairy" which makes it today a pornhub actress.
