Pipe connection directly attached to boiler cylinder leaking

Well had a screwdriver at the ready for my last attempt at removing the retaining nut but still couldn't get it off.

Eventually went and bought that plumbers mate stuff through desperation and stuck that around the nut as a temporary measure.

Wasn't expecting this stuff to work and overall it didn't, however it has reduced the constant leak to a drip every 6 or 7 minutes so was able to get the heating on again :)

Not sure how long it will hold but was hoping to get Christmas over with and get a new Combi boiler on tick, hehe.

Thanks for all the input,

Did you drain down first to remove any water pressure?

I assume it's an epoxy repair putty, I've used it to repair a car radiator and it did many more 1000's miles.

But it wasn't drained down, then I wouldn't expect it to work very well really

Yes, I drained the cylinder down, it seems to be holding but due to the slight drip now and again, I keep thinking I might wake up to a swimming pool in my wife's kitchen
She does have a pair of Wellies though

Anyway, the system is now working better than it ever did with the new actuator fitted and the hot water is not on constant boil any more when using the heating.

Would relay like a new system as Scottish Power said they would offer boiler cover as part of their deal, when I swapped supplier to them last year but once they saw the system they said it was too old for them to offer cover.

I should have cancelled their agreement there and then but just didn't think at the time
