Hi, Im not an expert on DIY which is a shame but I hope to learn, but maybe someone can help me.
I have had Environmental Health out today because I could hear rats in
my flat roof above the kitchen, extending into the hallway ceiling. They
have laid poison in the drain outside the back door and are ordering a
survey of the pipe because they believe there must be a split. I was
interested to see your comment regarding lining pipes and wondered, if
there is a split, if this is the answer, otherwise I should imagine
repairs will cost me a fortune. Any ideas if this is likely to work
(based on your experience) and an estimate of the cost might stop me
worrying as much as I am the moment!
Thanks

RATS??? are you sure. Could it be mice? They make a surprising amount of noise.

Are they "ordering" you to have the survey carried out, or are they arranging (and paying for) this themselves?

Yea the guy came round as we thought it may be mice, but he found rat droppings in a drain. He has laid pellets to kill them but said there may be a crack in our piping allowing them access. We are worried as it may cost a lot for repairs, and want to know if there are any easy solutions such as lining a pipe rather than taking the house apart to lay a new one. Though I have no idea how pipe repais go, which is why im here  . Thanks for the replys.

chrishutt: They are getting one done off theyre own back I presume. Im here on behalf of my mum as shes computer illeterate.
