We've recently fitted a sure stop switch (replaces stop cock on mains water feed to house). When water is drawn, ie if the cistern fills after a flush or the washing maching draws water, the pipe bangs as water is drawn and then as the water stops. We have turned the water pressure right down but it still does it but not so loud. We can't see that any pipe has been disturbed. Got any ideas anyone?

Have you re-clipped the pipes securely after the recent work you've had done? If the pipes aren't secured properly they will shake and bang.

Just for the record the sure stop should be fitted after an existing incoming stopcock.

From a regs point of view Internal stopcock should be of a screwdown type conforming to BS1010.

What is more important to you as a householder is that you have no failsafe if the surestop doesn't work.
