Hi I'm new to this site - can anyone tell me if the towel rail I have fitted in my downstairs kitchen will work?

I have plumbed into the top holes in the rad for ease of access with piping, however its 1700mm high x 600 and only the top 200mm is hot. I have a bleed valve at the bottom and water comes out with no air.

I thought it may be hotter at the top than botttom due to circulation, but thought some heat would conduct down, its actually cold?

Have I done the impossible?

Please help

Hmmm.....a bleed valve at the bottom! And i thought air rises in water.....

Hot water rises also.....so it maybe with such a large towel rail the hot water is not being pushed through all the towel rail. hence hot at top and not bottom.....i suggest you rework the piping so at least one of the pipes connects to the bottom.....

Thanks, I think its free from and air and hoped the heat would conduct down the rad more - looks like I will have to re plumb

we could of told you that before you started.

never mind after the recession has finished there willbe so much work about fixing all the diy c*ck ups.
just hope the public don't start thinking it makes them a plumber.

I had a customer of mine that fitted their own towel rail and had the same problem.

I fixed it by sliding a section of 15mm down the flow side of the rad. Forces the water down to the bottom of the rail first.

Worked a treat after that.
