Hi Im new to this site and have enjoyed reading some of the posts, I was wondering if any1 knew the minimum resistance reading for a new fire alarm system wired in 2core 1mm piro cable, I have wired and made of the ends and tested them at 500v and they are 600/700Mohms but the bosses say they want it upto >1000Mohms. I thought for a new installation the readings had to be >200Mohms but i wasnt sure, Just want to know if I have a leg to stand on if I argue with the gaffers :?: Cheers [/i]

above 0.5. altho for new cable is should be very high/infinity

you could have got the end damp hence the lower readings. try leaving it a day or 2 and test again

piro, not done that for years. would have to wd 40 all my tools! my old college teacher used to get right hump if we called it piro, he used to shout, its micc boy! lol
