I am planning to build a pitched roof of 20deg over a courtyard area in a victorion house. The length of the roof will be 5.3m by 1.6m.

If I use 6"x 2" rafters can I lay them in 1 continuous length.

Also how should I attach them to the existing stucture at the high point. Shall I just fix them into 90deg joist hagers or can you get a special bracket.

Has anyone used 75mm celotex for the insulation between rafters as it gives the 50mm void for air flow and space below for services.

Put ply ontop of the rafters followed by felt, battens and slate tiles.

Is there a cheaper option.

Lead  then you can lower the pitch even more and it`ll look pukka Victorian  Prob`ly about 8-9 bays with hollow rolls .........Nice
