Planning permission needed?

I'm not that bothered, just curious really, but...

I thought planning permission would normally be required for a full width canopy on the front of a house, plus a car post at the side?

No one, as said - I was under the impression that permission was a requirement?

I had it in mind to do something similar eventually.
