Planning permission

Hi,

Ive been recently looking at the possibility of converting my garage (which is joined to the house) to a large kitchen. I havent yet got in touch with an architect etc just been researching. There is one issue that i have, my garage wall lies on the boundary between me and my neighbour. Will the planners want to see some sort of passage/access to the back of my property?
