i have submitted a planning application to extend. while i,m waiting i am laying new floor base, stripping walls of old screed/plaster in the original property i assume this does not require consent while i,m waiting the planning approval.

There's two separate processes, Planning Approval and Building Reg's Approval.

You don't need to wait for Planning Approval to do other work in the existing property, but it might need Building Reg's Approval, e.g insulation in the floor/walls.
