Planting to thicken privet hedge

I have a privet hedge around the end of my garden which screens it from the pavement.

It's been there about 2 years (planted by previous owner) but it still very young and does not provide a screen.

I'm tempted to plant something faster growing between the existing plants to thicken it up. It needs to be a fast growing evergreen that will look ok being mixed up with the privet.

Any recommendations please?

I've got Pyracantha, it's very good for keeping everyone out! Planted 2 years ago, now aprrox. 4ft high, not as thick as I would like but growing quickly and evergreen.
