We've removed an old fireplace and in doing so some of the surrounding old plaster has fallen off. I've now got back to where I think the existing plaster is stable and applied a coat of PVA.

The depth of the existing plaster is about 18mm, so I've applied a render mix and levelled off as I feel comfortable applying render and it gives me more time to play with it.

Now I just need to get a smooth finish so I'm considering using Easifill?

Would this be ok to use as the wall will be papered once all finished. Most of the render won't be seen as its covered by the cast iron fire back and the wood surround and mantle.
