how can i get clean edges in wall and ceiling corners when plastering without using a corner trowel help

Im new to plastering, Still at college but heres what i was told.
Do opposite walls, That way you are not working on the same corner,
In a room with 4 walls by the time you do 2 opposite walls then go on to the other 2 opposite, the previous walls should be hard enough that you wont need to use a corner trowel.
