Hi, I have a couple of issues to sort. 30 year old house, upstairs rooms are plasterboarded:
  • a few fine cracks in the paint where wall meets ceiling
  • A few cracks above and below window
For the 1st one I thought adding some scrim tape and some sort of filler, maybe same approach for walls. Anyone offer suggestions for best materials e.g. filler, easi fill, joint filler/compound?

Thanks

.

Coving was developed to handle the cracks at the joint between the wall and the ceiling. The flexible mastic will work for a year or so, and then crack again. Scrim tape only works if you're going to plaster the wall and the ceiling at the same time.

If the cracks in the wall are fine, then you want to use polycell fine crack filler. It comes in a tube, but will get into the fine cracks, where ordinary filler doesn't manage to properly - you sometimes need to start widening the cracks to use that, and then you start getting other problems.
