Plasterboard ripped off with skirting - Best practice to replace

Hello,

I have removed skirting board in order to lay oak floors and, as expected, quite a bit of the plasterboard wall has come with it in places.

The walls are metal stud walls and don’t have any sole plates and limited (if any) wooden studs.

In the places where all of the plasterboard has come away, and there is no sole plates or vertical studs to fix to, what is best practice to fill these holes before putting the skirting back on?

I’m as concerned about draughts and sound proofing as much as having a surface to screw to.

If you're replacing with same size skirting, fill the holes with a decent deep crack filler and use grab adhesive to reattach skirting

You could use a foam fix adhesive will also take care of filling voids .
