Will taking off skirting always leave some damage?

So I have someone laying some flooring down at the moment. He has taken the skirting off, not sure what method he used as I wasn’t there. In any case the skirting is on plasterboard and on having a look today there is 3/4 sections where small chunks of plasterboard have come off. I know the skirting will cover any such areas but doesn’t seem ideal in all honesty.

That aside the flooring he is laying looks good so wasn’t sure how big an issue to make of this. Thanks for any input.

impossible to get skirting off plaster or plasterboard without damage

TBH plasterboard is sh1t -if skirting is stuck on with gripfill, pulling off the skirting will tend to rip the facing paper off the plasterboard
try removing tiles from plasterboarded wall -you have to replace the plasterboard usually

if your flooring guy has got skirting off without visible damage above the skirting position he has done well

The house is a new build and I had asked for the skirting to be tacked on and not glued. That being said they seem to have secured with nails or screws which weren’t visible on the skirting boards so I appreciate he wouldn’t have been able to see them.

Yes :( (in answer to the original question)

If the skirting was originally just pinned, how the hell did they get the mitres right without some form of glue?

Good luck getting them to fit back tightly with beautifully tight mitres, without adjustments - in my experience walls, even in new builds, are never that consistent.
