When building a stud wall using 9mm plasterboard, what should be the spacing between the studs?

600 centres for 12.5mm boards.

400mm centres are pretty much universal with studding - most boards (esp plasterboards) are modular, or standardised to land on 400mm centres & give a firm backing.
400mm centres are traditional with joisting & cut rafters too.

of course, there are uses for 600mm centres but they are not that common in residential studding.

so, as a general rule, its best to stick with 400mm centres.
