Hi Hoping someone here may be able to give me some advice. So im wanting to repair this area. The cut lathes are fairly loose so the socket was moving quite a bit and the plaster around it was falling off. My original plan was to screw a small strip behind the cut lathes to strengthen it up a bit and then cut a small piece of plasterboard to fill the space and skim over but i think even 9mm board would stand proud. Would i be better cutting the lathes back to studs and boarding onto studs ie removing the laths. There is a stud where my finger is and also under the door frame. Any help or advice will be really appreaciated cheers

You could use expanding foam to hold the lathes together first, then plasterboard...
