Hi Got some plastered boards to fit to a false wall. Was not wanting to use tapered boards as there dry lining tape and filler afterwards. Does anybody no of ways to hide joints on the normal straight edge plasterboard joints.
thanks for any help

Take it you're planning on papering or painting straight over the boards?- don't know why you wouldn't use tapered boards, it's what they're designed for. With tapered boards you've got the depth for scrim tape and filler which gives a reasonably strong wide joint. The tiny bit of filler you'll get between straight edge boards will have no strength & will crack very easily. If you're papering you might get away with it, if paint then dream on :). You could try caulk rather than filler but still on thin ice if painting directly.

+1. Change them for tapered. You need the depth of filler. Alternatives are skim the lot , or scrim and feather out. This can look like a speed bump in the hands of the inexperienced.

As said, the ONLY way to fill a plasaterjoint, either straight edge or tapered, is to use paper or scrim tape.

I would say the scrim (mesh type) is far superior.

So, you may as well use tapered boards to get a flat finish.

Personally, I'd get someone to scrim and skim the whole surface with plaster. This way you can wallpaper and later remove without any damage.
