Hi all,

I want to add an en-suite bathroom to an existing bedroom but I’m not sure how bad it is that an exposed hip rafter will be in the bathroom and how to cover or protect it?

I will be installing an extractor fan too, my partner suggested a wall mounted one but I’m more inclined to have a ceiling mounted one as I think that should be more effective?

Just paint/emulsion it.

Usually determined by how/where it will duct to the outside. Either high up on the wall or on the ceiling is ok.

In the ceiling you duct it to a vent slate

In the wall you have a long core drilling session and duct it to outside

Both take about an hour, but the wall is typically easier because you can stand on a floor and drill from the inside with the wall, but with the floor you're pulling slates out, off of a ladder.. more tricky, access wise

Last one I did was roof because there was a nearby skylight I could use for easy roof access. You don't seem to have that here; is it an easy run up a set of ladders for you, to where you'd want the outlet?
