I employed an electrician to put in a new fused switch for our chimney hood.

He chased the wall out for the cable, and cut a hole in the wall to accept the new fused switch box. However the hole for the switch box is around 2 inches wider and taller than the size of the box. Is it ok to use interior filler to "fill the gaps"?

I was also wondering if I can just use the same interior filler straight over the elecrical cable as he hasnt chased out the wall wide enough to accept any conduit or any other kind of mechanical protection.

Many thanks

I hope you didn't pay him.

Best to use patching plaster.
