Hi
can you help me?

we are putting horizontal t+g panelling along the rafter slope in an upstairs room, then plasterboarding and skimming the walls to either side.

I am stuck with the detail where plaster board meets wood panelling.

1. do we take the plaster to the panelling or the panelling to the plaster?
2. As I can't tape the plaster to the panelling where it meets will it be ok to fill the gap and then plaster up to the wood.

What would a prof do in this situation?

many thanks

Cover the join with a bit of architrave. Wood expands and contracts, plaster doesn't so you will always get a crack along the join. Covering with architrave hides the gap.

take the wood to the plaster and then use a flexible filler to fill the join if you don't want to cover over the join with a trim. Plaster doesn't stick to wood so you'll get a crack along the join if you try and plaster up to the wood.
