can any one advise is it possible to seperate a large area when plastering in two halfs by leaving a inch gap or so the go back and patch in thanks in advance :confused:

are you a plaster by trade just facing daunting challenge ?
do you have a labourer mixing for you ?
by all your posts I guess you're in a hurry
It is better if you can do it all in one but gathering from your postings you don't think you're up to this,
so you'll have to joint it, keep your open edge straight as you can trowel only along the joint edge never off it,
when the plaster is firm and your first half is smooth trim the edge straight use the edge of your trowel to cut it
like a big wood chisel pushing away from your work and clean any spots of plaster off the next bit to be done,
lay on the next half and clean off any plaster that runs over the joint line at the end of each coat
wash joint line with your wet brush as you trowel up, trowel only along the joint edge keeping joint full.
"don't leave a gap" as long as you clean off any plaster the lap over the joint as you go you may not need to sand it later.
this is best done first thing in the morning when the room is cool/cold.
