Plastic bank notes

Reference the recent announcement from the BOE regarding the above.
I wonder how many people are aware that this is not a first in the British Isles, plastic bank notes were the norm on the Isle of Man in the 80s and 90s.
Not sure if they are still used there now.

Call me old fashioned, but I prefer a naan with mine.

The Aussies have had them for several decades. I think they were brought in to stop them being destroyed when they went surfing with cash in their pockets. Maybe we have plazzy notes to make them UK weatherproof.
