Ive got some new platerboard walls with dry lining patress boxes and standard white plastic switches (we've batten out the walls to hide pipes) the T&E comes to the switch as normal but no where is there at tag or connecting for the earth core -what should I do with it? Cut it back, tape it up, stick it in some choc block or disconnect the far end??

thats great, i did think the other options were a bit dodgy if you ever needed to add metal face plates of example.

And you might find out how very dodgy the last option is if you ever drilled into a cable with no earth core in it...

The CPC isn't there to protect the cable against being drilled, screwed etc.
Had one where someone had put a 5" screw through a 3" door frame and managed to go put it through the space between the two adjacent live cores in 3c&e so the 2 way lighting ckt wouldn't switch off normally.
And it was in a safe zone

I know that, but its presence can't hurt, and might (I did say "might") help.
