Please Help!!.Fault with renault megane dynamique.

Hi all i have got a renault megane dynamique 1.9 diesel car which i have only had since sept. already i have troubles and dont know much about these cars. my problem is when i put in the card key and press start the engine wont start up. it makes a click sound but not all the time. on the dash it just comes up with press start and clutch but when i do it doesnt start. i have had the battery on charge today so i know it cant be that. can any one suggest anything that i could try which i would be greatful

Does it start when you press the brake & start button at the same time? The clutch pedal switch wires are always snapping!

Starter motor or a bad/loose connection from the battery to the starter

+1 for the clutch / brake pedal wires snapping....they have immobilised many a Megane (including Mrs B's in 2003).
The wires are too short to begin with - I effected a repair using spiral phone cable, but I would have hoped Renault would have cracked that one by now.
