Hi

I have a Ideal Isar combi boiler and basically this morning the central heating didn't come on! I looked at it and the display said "d" so i tried to reset and nothing happened so i switched it off nothing happened "d" still appeared. I looked on google about this and it said something about tripping taps i had no taps dripping and none of the radiators are leaking.

So tonight after this morning i decided to take a bath i still had hot water and whilst lying in the bath i heard the radiator working so i thought great the central heating is working again!!

Anyways now on the boiler it says "c" now my question is does it normally display "c" cos i haven't ever noticed what it me normally says i'm a single female living on her own and as you can probably imagine things like boilers have little interested to me!! (except when they aren't working!!) so is having a "c" display normal or is this showing another fault of some kind?

Please help don't want to go through Christmas and New Years without consistent heating!!

C means it thinks it is doing the heating.

You might well have two faults - a duff diverter valve and/or dodgy temperature sensor for your plate heat exchanger.

Also check for dripping taps. They will make the boiler think there is a hot water demand and keep the boiler in hot water mode ("d").
