I've just moved into a flat with a BIASI RIVA ADVANCE HE boiler installed, and the hot water works but the central heating doesn't - and I need it!

The light on the left hand side of the boiler flashes for a second every 2 seconds, which the manual says it should and is therefore in 'normal operating' mode for dhw and ch, but nothing happens.

I have the thermostat on 30 when I'm doing this, but it still doesn't start up (no noise or heat). The only time the boiler seems to come to life is when I turn the hot water on.

Hope someone can offer some simple advice? I'm not very clued up on this sort of thing!

Thanks,
Lauren

Is the ON light lit in the main display? It's most likely the timer or the right hand rotary knob setting which is preventing the heating from working.
The right hand knob should be turned so it's somewhere on the scale between the - and + markers.

If it's already set there, try moving the c1/auto/timer switch down to the timer position and then pressing the On/off button. This puts the heating into manual mode where you control when it's off or on.

Yes, most likely to be a wrong setting rather than any boiler fault.

These are pretty reliable boilers!

post a pic of the controls on the boiler and any external controls that you have if it is easier and we will be able to tell you what needs switching on
