Hi,
New to this and have to plead for help.
VOLKERA LINEA MAX, FLOOR STANDING, JUST OVER TEN YEARS OLD.
Described by British Gas engineers as the boiler from hell, (My one anyway)

Lots of aggro and lots of parts replaced ainculing a full system flush / repeated as first not done properly.

The air/water tank replaced. Pressure release valve circuit boards and other bits all replaced in the last 4 months.

LATEST, there is very little heat going to any radiator. none to some.
I have done a quick bleed session but no air.

Thermostat in hall at MAX. Reading on boiler 30-32 which if I remember is less than half what I have seen in the past.

Temp goes to high 60's - low 70's when hot water turned on then falls back to the 30-32 no matter what is done with thermo. Tried turning rads off to provide an increase in flow in rest of system.

Pressure at 1.5 bar

As far as I am concerned, based on what I have seen and experianced, the British Gas lot are quite frankly bemused at best. I will be calling them again tomorrow,

What a marvellous time I am having. Wife's motor failed the MOT and needs lots of unseen fault work (today), just about no heating since the snow started, root canal drilled out this afternoon and murderous at present and another motor to put in for MOT next week YIPPEE.

PLEASE TAKE PITY ON A GUY WHO IS 50 AT THE END OF THE WEEK.
ANY HELP/SUGGESTIONS?

I know scrap it and start again, what is a really good powerful gas combi boiler and about 14 rads going to hit me for?

At least you can buy a nice new boiler installed for £2k-£3k ( by an indepoendent ).

But you cannot buy another 10 years to make you 40 again.

In fact in another 10 years time anyone over 60 will probably be on an NHS scrappage scheme!

A bad workman blames his tools.

A boiler should not need every part replaced to make it work. In your case many parts have been replaced without success. Suggest you employ a person who knows how to repair boiler instead of being told it needs to be replaced.

Good boiler that responds well to proper service. See nothing wrong with it.

Got to be back to basics, take off the diverter motor, check spindle is free and not stuck. If ok watch spindle in motot moving when water used and then turned off. After that plug in a thermistor for the heating and check results.

I'm lucky, I know someone trustworthy who's been doing it for 25 years. My dad (doesn't live around here) has BG and they send out technician after technician changing parts but they don't actually seem to know how to diagnose the problem :?

(although i'm sure they do have good engineers and i believe the working system put in place by their management makes it v difficult to do the job properly)

Ditch British Gas in favour of a local combi boiler expert?

At the end of the day if bg are having trouble fixing the problem they will pay vokera to come and fix it under the cover and if they can't sort it you are in trouble.
Your post doesn't make clear if the parts you have had fitted are anything to do with your latest problem and / or if all those parts were actually required or not....they may well have been and had you ditched your bg cover would have cost an arm and a leg.....don't be too hasty.

To check em takes seconds, rather than spend 30min draining and swoping parts, head unclips and lifts off, check rod (spindle) which is now visable, does it move easily? if not new plastic cover with new front seal inside cover, swop plastic diverter bobbin at the same time.

Thanks for the tecno jargon answer, If I could interpret what you mean then it might well be the answer. Of course if I had the knowledge to understand the jargon, I might even be able to do the non gasy work myself or poke / prod the bg "experts" in the right direction.

Once again thanks anyway.
