Dear All
I have just made a cabinet out of veneered mdf. I have dyed it and applied a few coats of Rustins yacht varnish.
The problem is that after every coat it feels rough and there seem to be small bubbles which are giving it this roughness (I have shaken the tin tonnes before every application (as instructed on the side of the tin) and have used a new fine bristled brush).
The cabinet was originally sanded down with up to 320 grit paper and has been rubbed down and cleaned with white spirit in between all coats. It was smooth after doing this but lost the glossy look of the varnish.
Last night I applied the top coat and was wondering whether there is any way I can rub or polish it up so that it is smooth but keeps its glossy/shiny finish.
I am really grateful for any help you can give me!!!
Thanks a lot.
