Plywood thickness over chipboard

Whats the minimum thickness ply i could use to go over 18mm chipboard
I've been reading it should be 15mm??
The problem is 15mm ply plus 10mm tile plus 10-20mm adhesive im going to need a threshold 35-45mm and carpet floor the other side

15mm is right.

you can use a 6mm backer board instead though. do a search for no more ply trade

Isn't 18mm chipboard is quite thin for a floor? Sure it's not thicker?

Better solution would be to lift the chipboard and replace it with 18mm (or thicker) WPB ply and then over boarding that with 6mm hardie backer.

If you're using UFH then use insulating tile backer boards like Marmox instead of the hardie.

take the chipboard out altogether, replace with 19 -25 mm ply, that drops your height for you and will still maintain a rigid floor for you to tile onto

What's the chipboard attached to....construction off the actual floor substrate

Is it timber joists...if so what's the joists widths/depths spacing ect..

Is it a block and beam floor....

Floating floor....

Before you consider tiling it...!!!
