Polishing terrazzo tiles

I recently uncovered some terrazzo tiles under a floor that had been concreted over.

I would like to use the tiles for a hearth.

So far I've bought some diamond polishing discs that I'm using on a drill and have got off all the old mortar and grubbiness. I intend to go through the discs and finish on the 1500 or 3000 grit disc.

As its for the hearth, I would like to have a glossy finish, can anyone recommend a product... as I've only 16 tiles, I was even thinking of a gloss varnish/lacquer.
