The word when used as a name for a dog is not offensive, it can be offensive when used with the intent of being offensive


Some people find the expression "black man" to be offensive

One is the name of a dog, been dead for nearly a hundred years.
The other is a family name still in common and current use.

The owner of the dog was a known racist. Even if his views were acceptable then, they're not now.

There's nothing offensive as describing a Black man as a black man. Some prefer that terminology.

I understand the right-wing are trying to ban the use of the word 'gammon'.
What's to become of the English language when we have to go shopping for some pink meat from the back leg of a pig that's been salted?

So the grave of a dog, which happens to be called a now offensive word, and owned by a known racist, which none of the current complainers could possibly have met, never mind known, has become so dear to a few racists.
Is it the sentiment, or is that they want the offensive word to remain in the English language.

The Halton District School Board would like to formally correct misinformation that is being spread online and in the media about a staff member.

Oakville Trafalgar High School has received significant attention online over the past several days. As part of this coverage, a teacher has been incorrectly identified as “Stephen Hanna”. While we cannot confirm the identity of the individual in the photos/videos/radio segments, we can confirm that the individual is not Stephen Hanna. Stephen Hanna is a staff member of the Halton District School Board who is an entirely separate individual and is completely unrelated to this matter.

The HDSB requests that all news outlets/online publications who have incorrectly reported on this, correct this immediately and remove Mr. Hanna’s name from all content (i.e., print, online, video, etc.) related to this matter.
