Hi,

I live in a flat and our front door has poor sound insulation. The rest of the flat is very sound proof and we never hear our neighbors. Unfortunately the front door lets it down.

The door appears to be solid wood and is internal. we are unable to replace it as it technically belongs to the freeholders.

I know its a long shot but does anyone have any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Christian.

you can get a "portal rod" which will swing open with the curtain when you open the door

you might also consider a second door in your hall.

And proofing strip round the door. Ironmongery Direct have some on offer this week.

Thanks for your replies.

I have looked into the proofing strip as I think this will work best.

I checked the Ironmongery Direct site and they have two options:
Perimeter seal and the door bottom seal.
Which would you recommend?

Thanks.

you will need both. the perimeter seal has no rebate to fit into, at the bottom.

if you have to choose, do the perimeter first. Clkean the rebate very thoroughly, and, if you are thinking of painting it soon, paint it first.

A second door will be far more effective.
