Hi,

I've got a Ravenheat boiler 84f, not the best i've been told, but have had no problems up until now. Its 6 years old roughly. installed in a 3 bed property.

I have a problem with the mains hot water being very poor, you have to turn the hot water down to less than half the mains flow to get hot water from the system, sometimes less.
Also over the last few weeks i have noticed the first few radiators in the loop have started to get very warm.

Im starting to think the diverter valve could be at fault, and am debating about replacing it but would like some advise before i do so.
Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards

Gary

It does sound as if the diverter valve is failing.

But you will need a competent engineer to properly diagnose the problem.

They are quite repairable boilers.

Thanks, I was hoping that the two faults would pin point to the diverter valve, and hopefully be a quick fix.

Hi while it is possible that the valve has simply failed its also possible that dirt in the system is a factor, it might be an idea to add a cleaning chemical then flush out and add an inhibitor to prevent the problem re occuring.

Thanks for all the help.

I pushed the boat out and fitted a new diverter valve this afternoon. Flushed system, and filled with inhibitor.
It's cured the problem, water is heating up when the taps are turned on full.
Radiators are cool when hot water is running, chuffed.

Blimey, that must have cost a bit!
