Had to fit a 13 amp socket and bulkhead light inside a de-commisioned chilled room now used as a store room. One of the outbuildings to my new cottage.

The walls appeared to be plastic and redundant fittings were fixed with rusty screws that sheared their heads off when being removed.

Walls were plastic coated steel, very hard steel. Killed two drill bits.

There was only soft insulation where I needed to fix things. It appears wood blocks had been fitted behind the steel for the original items to be screwed to.

So I decided to use pop rivets to fix the boxes to the steel. The steel has been bonded to the MET. It is a TT system and the steel is almost certainly in contact with the ground. ( probably makes a good earth "rod" )

Any thing wrong with using pop rivets in plastic surface mount boxes ?. ( other than they will be dificult to remove )

only prob i can see is apart from as you state being a pig to remove, that the final snap of the riviting tool could snap/crack the box, then again could be ok with penny washers fitted.
