Popping pipes

Hi all,

Moved in to a new house this year and the central heating has been driving us nuts.

Although the rads are pumping out good heat, it's a fairly old system. The pipes or rads continually pop/click whenever the heating is on. It's very rythmic popping and it's definitely not coming from the boiler and is most noticelable upstairs.

Does this sound like its expansion of pipes rubbing on joists or something more problematic?

Any insight greatly appreciated.

Cheers,

Paul

I'd say yes, it probably is pipes rubbing joists, floorboards etc.

Hi Mick,

I took the boards up and stuffed some foam padding under the pipes where they cross the joints and it's all sorted.

Cheers,

Paul
