Tried to sign up for the 2330 part time course at Leeds college yesterday for Sept 2009. The guy on the phone kind of snorted a bit as if to say "you'll be lucky mate".

When I enquired it seems they have a waiting list so long that the course will be full for the next two years even if no one else applies

He said I will definitely get a "waiting list interview"

Pretty gutted really!

Try a few other local colleges.

Huddersfield do electrical courses.

I'd be amazed if Leeds college of tech. managed to guess their Rs from their elbow.

Will try hudds although transport may be an issue at the moment becasue the only vehicle I have has to be left at work every night

Is Leeds really that bad?

It's been a good few years since I was there, so they may well have got their act together by now, but when I was there p--- up and brewery were often mentioned.

I still had my training officer coming to do site visits a year after I had qualified. Oh and I still have certificates for a course I never even took

My apprentice is at hudds.

No compliants from him, but he doesn't say much.

To be fair to the lad, his tea making is coming on well.

Better than his sweeping up is

Did mine at Bradford College, excellent lecturers, no bull ****, work at your pace.

Heard grim things about Leeds.

Ray Lang is your man to talk to at BC, will rip the ****e all day long, but ensures you do well as do all the others such as David Ho and team Flood

Well, managed to get a place at Leeds.

The course is moving from the East Campus to the main campus this year and they are having all new workshops built.

Still, I am beginning to see where the above comments were coming from.

Its a means to an end though, luckily i've been able to arrange some work experience for 7 weeks in the summer, so will be able to do some of my own learning.

I was also an minority in the fact that I am employed.

East street was a real dump when I was there.

Who are your tutors / lecturers?

How's the canteen? It used to be the best thing about that place when I was there (apart from the palace of course)

when i was their the place was a dump but the tutors where ok phil w paul c and ralf n bill

Not sure about the tutors yet. The only guy we met was the "head of school" a guy called Kad Siari? or something along those lines.

Not had chance to check out the canteen yet, although I did spend a lot of time at reception

Yeah Kad was the head (or something) when I was there.

Have you found the palace yet? :D
