Hi chaps.
I've got a bit of a conundrum here. I'm having the hallway carpeted in about two weeks and I'm going to fit laminate to the porch area.
The problem is that the porch floor level is 2 inches higher than the hallway. This does not include the door header (in the picture) which add another few inches. So you walk inside and then step down into the hallway.
I can cut away the header (previous owners did this job) which they fitted to the floor or should I just paint it and leave it? It is a bit of a tripping to hazard if you're not mindful

I need to know what to do before the carpet is fitted obviously, so 2 weeks to think it over
