purchased portable dvd about 18 months ago and the screen has gone blank if i point torch above i can see the movie playing in the back ground can anybody help
 
Perhaps the backlight of the LCD has packed up or has a loose connection.

I agree. The tubes/invertor is faulty. What people don't realise when they buy an LCD, is that they are lit by unreliable flo tubes. Last less than 5 years. Plasma TV's have a more poor shelf life. Go on knock yourselves out by buying new tech, when it don't work! iphones, blackberryies, LG phones...all modern tech, that WILL fail after the warranty, and be completely useless. Why buy something that is guaranteed to break? Muppet society.
