Hi all,
I'm building a elevated deck off our new extension (nearly 2m off the ground), had to get structural calcs done for the building regs, but having trouble understanding what he has specified and the approach needed.
It's a 3x7 ledger attached to the wall, then 6 x 100mm (4inch) posts at the front with doubled up 2x6 for the front beam. When i've done lower decking before i've always bolted to posts but it looks like the structural engineer wants these rested on the posts. As you can see from the attached image, i'm struggling to understand if the front beam needs to be notched onto the posts, if any further strapping/fixing plate is needed..
Can anyone advice the approach?
Many thanks.
