Hello I have to ask advice please. I had a call out yesterday worcseter si ii no heat or h/water and water leaking bad. I found the main heat exchanger had a pin hole in so after telling the customers the price would be around £200 just for part and who knows until can fill up and test what the water has done. I give the leak sealer a try and i screwed a self tapper in the hole and its stopped (how long who knows) but the boiler needed hairdrier on it and after it would spark fire but still spark and i fiuxed that the hoit water great but heating it fires but no heat and the hot water pipe gets hot. Diverter or plate heat ex ? advice please boys

I said to them "£200 new heat exchanger" if they got one but lets try and stop leak so can test it see if its ok before spending money and i just used internal leak sealer and used self tapper and it stopped it so hot water ok but heating fires but the hot water pipe gets hot before it cuts out

Long and the short of it is we don't give out gas advice on the open forum. It's definitely a WB 24/28 Si II? Have you even had a look at the MI?

The fact that your at the point of sicking a screw into a pinholed HE and then asking if it's the diverter or plate HE tells the chaps here quite a lot. You are within GSR territory within the boiler and any advice could be gas related therefore not allowed. If you are a GSR then you should be able to fault find or at least component check to a certain degree, which could probably tell you quite a lot.

OP ;but the question is how much will it cost in the end ???

Give the OP a break for a bit guys, looking at his spelling, I'd say he was possibly dyslexic, or he could be foreign of course. I've seen some GSR tradesmen that are a lot worse than he's coming across.

Is that sarcasm? Them 'GSR tradesmen' have been proved competent to carry out the work. Being dyslexic or foreign gives u the right to do what you want so it seems.

Diverter or circuit board.
And please use paragraphs rather than writing a stream of your thoughts and it makes it simpler to understand.

They have some ticks ( or tics ) on a card that says they were qualified ( on a certain date, remember amnesia ) to do some things, but maybe not all things, connected with gas.

Tell the Customer to find someone who knows what they're doing

and fully explain to the customer the meanings and limitations of the various ticked boxes on the registration card.

I hope that it is acceptable to give that piece of gas related advice on this forum.
