posted this ysday and got told disgrace ripping people off i havent charged a penny

They have some ticks ( or tics ) on a card that says they were qualified ( on a certain date, remember amnesia ) to do some things, but maybe not all things, connected with gas.

Not sure what exactly your point is? If he's gas safe or the bloke who visited is gas safe without the relevant qualifications then neither of them should be in the combustion chamber fitting screws into heat ex's to stop leaks. Simples.

My first point is that some holders of a GasSafe Registration are qualified only as gas pipe fitters and are not qualified to work on appliances. The customer needs to check what services the GasSafe person is qualified to offer.

A copy of this document should be handed to the customer https://www.gassaferegister.co.uk/media/1825/defining-the-domestic-id-card-work-categories.pdf

My second point is that "qualified" does not garantee competance in the work that the qualification refers to

There are no guarantees in life. The tick means he's deemed to be competants because of answers to questions in a assessment. Bit like the guy who was deemed to be safe to walk the streets even though he had mental problems and was found wandering around with a knife then a few days later stabs to death some poor so and so out for a walk.

Have you got a part number? :D
No sorry but Google is your friend. If you can find an exploded diagram of the boiler it will help you a lot!
You're basically looking for the part that decides if the primary water goes to the hw exchanger or the heating circuit. Presumably it's been jammed by some debris.
Alternatively if the boiler doesn't use the primary water to heat the dhw, it could be the pump that has been jammed.
Hope there are some useful pointers in there.

This forum is amazing, from gas boilers to stabbings in the street all on the same thread! o_O

Rather than Google a competent engineer can look inside a boiler and see what parts it has fitted and therefore how it is designed to work.

Am I missing something here, If this is the older Si II boiler then it can't be the diverter? Can't be something that it doesn't have.... o_O Or is it a new Si Compact?

Sorry I meant to find the service manual as that would have the part number, I was replying to the questing asking for the part number!
Usually quicker to Google then find out through other means.

Hence my question ;).
So what you mean is you are already familiar with that boiler and it doesn't have a diverter, in which case it would surely have been more helpful to say that and save everyone's time. Or have I just not got used to the forum culture/clique?

Forum culture is often difficult to work out.

Particularly when some don't follow the etiquette of directing all replies to the OP.

Thanks agile, I'm trying to be as helpful as possible, hopefully the OP appreciates that! Can't ask for much more than that.
