The boiler that I am thinking of is about the only one Worcester made with easy to get to parts.

But slightly spoilt by a "bent" plate heat exchanger which cannot be cleaned manually with chemicals.

No plated on an si2 Tony, its the copper twin pass heat exchanger Worcester used from the leblanc 4.20 when they bought them out.

And tards like YOU have Google to offer this forum.....

Google is useful for locating copies of public domain documents which can be quoted from. Other sources that I have access to are not public domain and thus I can only offer my opinions which are based on information from those non public domain sources.

advocating dangerous practice are not helpful.

Suggesting that a customer is allowed to choose a vented cylinder and resist pressure to cinvert to a non vented cylinder. Guess that does make me a menace to the plumber who wants an easy life and a yearly test and inspection fee.

And suggesting customers are informed about the ticks on the back of a GasSafe card is definately menacing to those who would act beyond their qualifications where the customer is ignorant of what qualifications are needed for the work they are paying for.

( note that some informed and competent persons may not have sat the exam to become "qualified" to work on equipment in the customer's home )

You're a menace.

Maybe I am in your opinion. But that is an opinion.

Are you saying an open vented system is maintenance free?

No, but an open vented cylinder can be maintained by a good plumber when something goes wrong. A non vented cylinder requires safety devices ( pressure relief valves ) and these safety devices need to be routinely checked at least once every year by a G3 qualified technician.

Most boilers supplying pressurised radiator systems require a minimum pressure in the radiator pipework. Without that pressure the boiler may refuse to fire up on the assumption that loss of pressure has happened due to a leak and loss of water. The customer then has to use the re-filling loop to get teh system running again. Then there is a need for expansion vessels and they can be troublesome. (*).

An open vented radiator system with a feed and expansion tank has a reliable supple of water, yes it is true that leaks may go undetected until there is visible water staining or damage but the system will keep working.

(*) It was amusing that one "heating saleman" told at least one potential customer that a pressurised system would heat the house quicker in the same way as a pressure cooker cooked food faster. ( source :- retired technical director, industrial and domestic heating )

Many good plumbers have the G3 ticket.

but the system will keep working

Great. So you can have a warm ceiling when it crashes down around your ears.

One - your sources are meaningless/imagined/not cared about. Your views on professionals are biased and unfounded. You make stuff up and ignore the varied opinions we hold because you know full well that they prove your opinions to be bullschit. You have VERY limited knowledge yet you think Google is king and can make you seem more informed to the DIY'er asking for advice here.

Then perhaps you should change the tune of your posts about professionals if you claim to have respect, because you have shown none whatsoever here and that, along with your daft theories on various things plumbing and heating related, is why nearly every professional here thinks you are a moron.
